Join us to network and learn how the Stellar Certification Program will enhance the culture of your organization and recognize your workplace excellence. Discover how your organization can create a healthy work environment for direct care nurses as they lead from the point of care. This workshop will provide guidance and strategies for long-term care home organizations across Canada that are seeking certification from the Stellar Certification Program. This workshop is suited to administrators, directors of nurses, nurse resource experts, educators and nurses in direct care. 

During this workshop, participants will: 

1. Explore and learn about the Stellar Certification Program for their LTC home. 
2. Examine the entire certification process, from understanding the requirements, preparing the application, to the final review and awarding of Stellar certification. 
3. Review and complete the self-assessment guide for your LTC home (interactive element). 

By the end of the workshop, participants will:

1. Acquire a comprehensive understanding of the Stellar Certification Program.
2. Understand the best practices for success in pursuing Stellar certification.
3. Empower leaders in their organization to assess its status against the standards of Stellar certification.
4. Comprehend the evidence required for the initial evaluation.
5. Gain the confidence to pursue Stellar certification.

In this workshop, there will be a presentation from the workshop presenter and an interactive workshop employing a variety of learning and discussion opportunities. 

Informative presentation (1 hour): The lead of the Stellar Certification Program will provide a presentation and video about the program. 

Hands-on Stellar (1.5 hours): Participants will learn about the individual self-assessment interactive guide, which will be engaging and outcome-oriented. Using the guide, participants will apply the Stellar standards to their LTC home and/or organization to help determine where their LTC home stands against the Stellar standards. This will help participants determine whether they are ready to apply. 

This hands-on portion will include an interactive element, an engaging case study with a live polling tool, and meaningful discussion. You will gain detailed insight into the evidence you’ll need to provide as part of your evaluation. Early awareness of Stellar standards and knowledge of the program will be key to your success.

Participants will work through practical exercises:

• Initial self-assessment with live polling features.
• Interacting with the Stellar team where participants will have an opportunity to raise further questions and seek answers. 
• Opportunities to create a Stellar Certification Program account, which is part of the initial application process.
