For over 6000 years, the junction of the Assiniboine and Red Rivers, known to Winnipegers as The Forks, has been a traditional meeting place. In 1984, more than 800 gerontological nurses from across the country attended the second national conference on gerontological nursing in Winnipeg. Over the next 40 years, gerontological nursing has evolved with resilience, embracing principles of justice, equity, and cultural diversity. Participants of the 2025 Canadian Gerontological Nursing Association (CGNA) conference are invited to share experiences on 'inclusivity' as a core practice competency. Through allyship, gerontological nursing aims to challenge ageism and other biases, dismantle systemic barriers, and foster meaningful and respectful change in the field. It is time again to reunite near The Forks and advance the practice of inclusivity in gerontological nursing practice.
